Ranvir is a cultural activist, philanthropist and businessman who has always had a great interest in books, art, music, interior decoration and a sharp aesthetic perception. In 1998, he founded the Prakriti Foundation (www.prakritifoundation.com), the vision of which was to host events that would play a key role in changing and energizing the cultural scene in Chennai. Ranvir Shah holds a Masters Degree in Political Science and has over two decades of experience in the domestic and international markets in garment exports. He is currently Managing Partner of PS Apparels. He is a freelance journalist and theatre/art critic for the Hindu and New Indian Express newspapers. Ranvir has also been a part of the Citizen’s Run trust since its initiation and has seen the event grow in stature, in its capacity to spread awareness and impact lives positively. The Citizens Run Trust has been organizing a cross city run every year since 1996 the aim of which is to gain awareness and support for small voluntary non-government organizations actively engaged in quality work for the welfare of the socially, economically and physically disadvantaged. He thus straddles the seemingly unconnected worlds of art and industry and also attempts to create symbiotic links between the two, as a firm believer in the proactive role industry can play in non-commercial ventures and the importance of art in the human endeavour. He currently resides in Chennai with his wife Nandi, an activist and educator in the area of child sexual abuse and three children..
Dr. Anand . N
Dr. Anand joined IAPA’s Board of Trustees in 2014. The doctor finished his medical degree from Chengalpattu Medical College and has also done Post Graduate Certificate course from Dr. M.G. R. University. His passion to work with the people infected with HIV, made him to complete a Fellowship in HIV Medicine at YRG Care Center, Chennai. He has undergone more than 6 trainings, the most important among them being HIV/AIDS Management and De-addiction and Rehabilitation for chemical abusers. He has more than 11 years of rich experience, working as Occupational physician and Medical Officer at various hospitals, corporate houses where he looked after Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Accident and Trauma Care, VCTC , STI Management to name a few. At present he is the Chief Medical Officer at L & T Shipbuilding Ltd., He has been working as Medical Officer for Shelter Trust, where he attends to children on call at any time. His entry into IAPA Board of Trustees will undoubtedly give fillip to many of the projects of IAPA, aimed at the care of people with HIV, especially children.
Dr. Swathi Padankatti
Dr Swathi Padankatti is a doctor at the department of Pediatrics and Neonatology in Sundaram Medical Foundation, Chennai. Having completed Post Graduate training in Pediatrics from Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore, she worked in a mission hospital for 5 years and was instrumental in setting up a tertiary care neonatal ICU there. Her burning interest in community work and teaching lead her to conduct a national level workshop on “Essential New Born Care” in 2003. Dr. Swathi is a recipient of several awards and grants which include Travel Scholarship of the International Pediatric Association 2013 and International Pediatric Association Foundation Grant Award 2014. She is passionate about improving children’s health in India and has spearheaded many community initiatives within the department to improve child health and survival. She resides in Chennai with her husband Dr L Rajiv Padankatti, a pediatric surgeon and their 12-year-old son Rohit. Her inclusion as a Trustee in IAPA’s Board of Trustee would give fillip to all the health interventions of IAPA aimed at children.
